1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the HydraCat mobile application (the "App") and the HydraCat website (together, the "Service").

HydraCat is operated by a sole proprietorship registered in Belgium ("HydraCat", "we", "us", or "our").

By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

The Service is intended for adults only.

By using HydraCat, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. The Service is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly permit use by minors.

3. Nature of the Service (Important Disclaimer)

HydraCat is a veterinarian-developed educational and organizational tool designed to help cat owners track and manage aspects of chronic kidney disease (CKD) care in cats.

Not a Veterinary Medical Service

HydraCat is not a veterinary medical service.
HydraCat is not a medical or veterinary device.
HydraCat does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

All information, tools, calculations, reminders, and educational content provided through the Service are for informational and organizational purposes only.

No Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship

Use of the Service does not create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship between you and HydraCat or its operator.

Only a licensed veterinarian who has examined your animal and has access to the full clinical context can:

Diagnose chronic kidney disease
Assign an official IRIS CKD stage
Prescribe or adjust treatments
Provide medical advice

4. IRIS CKD Staging & Educational Tools Disclaimer

Certain features of the Service (including the CKD staging tool) are based on publicly available guidelines published by the International Renal Interest Society (IRIS).

You acknowledge and agree that:

The Service is an independent educational resource
HydraCat is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by IRIS
Any CKD stage shown is an estimate only, based solely on user-entered data
Results do not replace veterinary diagnosis or clinical judgment

Clinical decisions should never be made based solely on information provided by the Service.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree that:

You are responsible for the accuracy of all data you enter
You will use the Service responsibly and for its intended purpose
You will consult a licensed veterinarian for all medical decisions regarding your cat

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and access credentials.

You must not:

Reverse engineer, modify, or copy the Service
Attempt to extract source code or create derivative works
Use the Service in an unlawful or abusive manner

6. Account Registration & Security

To use the App, you must create an account using supported authentication methods.

You are responsible for:

Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
All activity that occurs under your account

You may delete your account at any time directly within the App.

7. Availability & Technical Limitations

The Service requires compatible devices and, for some features, an active internet connection.

We do not guarantee that:

The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
All features will be available at all times
The Service will be compatible with all devices or operating system versions

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time.

8. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers to function properly, including but not limited to:

Google Firebase (authentication, database, analytics, crash reporting)
RevenueCat (subscription management)
Apple App Store and Google Play Store (distribution and payments)

Use of these services is subject to their respective terms and policies.

9. Subscriptions & Payments

Certain features of the Service may require a paid subscription.

Payments are processed exclusively by the Apple App Store and/or Google Play Store
HydraCat does not receive or store your payment details
Subscription pricing and terms are displayed before purchase

Refunds and billing issues are handled by the respective app store, in accordance with their policies.

10. Intellectual Property

All content, features, designs, text, graphics, logos, and software associated with the Service are the exclusive property of HydraCat or its licensors.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

HydraCat shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages
This includes, without limitation, damages for loss of data, loss of use, emotional distress, or decisions made based on Service content

HydraCat does not assume liability for:

Veterinary outcomes
Treatment decisions
Disease progression
Missed or incorrect data entries

If liability is established, HydraCat's total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid (if any) to use the Service.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HydraCat from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising out of:

Your use or misuse of the Service
Your violation of these Terms
Decisions made regarding your cat's care

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms.

Upon termination:

Your right to use the Service ends
You must stop using the App
You may delete the App from your device

14. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Belgium, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Belgium.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

Updated versions will be posted on the HydraCat website, and the effective date will be revised accordingly.
